Ken Cross has a plethora of experience over an a 20-plus year period in both print and broadcast journalism as a free-lancer on the east coast and in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, in particular. He started with the now defunct Sports Fan Radio Network in 1997 as a reporter, giving in-game updates and then facilitating postgame interviews with players on winning teams after games via cell phones. He has also worked in the same capacity for ESPN Radio, Fox Sports Radio, Sporting News Radio, Yahoo! Sports Radio over the same period. This includes coverage of college football, college basketball, Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets/Bobcats, and the Carolina Hurricanes. Cross covered the entire Hurricanes 2006 Stanley Cup run for the national radio networks.

On the print and internet journalism front, Cross continues to write for Lindy’s Sports Annuals as one of the primary writers for the Lindy’s College Basketball preview as well as a writer on the Lindy’s College Football preview staff. He also contributes frequently to the Lindy’s Sports website with articles on all sports throughout the year.

In addition, Cross wrote for from 2010-2015 where he covered the SEC/ACC along with Davidson and UNCC basketball. A self-confessed “college hoops junkie,” he also wrote stories, did columns, and interviews on teams with a more national scope and angle. Cross penned the last article on the site as it dissolved in the Summer of 2015. He also has joined this season as a writer in covering SEC football this season.   Cross shoots digital photography for the magazine on west coast baseball as well as college football and occasional NFL games.

Some of his other sports endeavors included a stint with Street & Smith’s Sports as a writer for the NBA Daily. This was a researched based document that was emailed to the league office Monday-Friday and then distributed to the public relations departments of each of the league’s 30 teams. The document entailed searching newspapers in the league’s cities, finding appropriate stories, and then rewriting them in manuscript form. He also has been on the air as an analyst for many different radio shows in the mid-Atlantic region with appearances on Gamenight on ESPN Radio with Freddie Coleman and also with Chris Myers on Fox Sports Radio during that 2006 Stanley Cup run. Cross also was a writer and researcher on The Big Bad Book of Sports which was published in 2008.

Cross has a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Appalachian State University and a Master’s in English and Education from Radford University in Virginia and is a member of the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).
