Vols, Tar Heels Move on to Sweet 16

By Kenneth Cross

CHARLOTTE –  The Tennessee Volunteers and North Carolina Tar Heels picked off a pair of wins on Saturday that move them to the Sweet 16 next weekend. Dalton Knecht overcame a tough shooting day to lead the Vols with 18 points to pace Tennessee over Texas. Tennessee led, 38-29, at halftime after shooting only 29 percent in the first half.

North Carolina took an 85-69 win over Michigan State after trailing the Spartans, 26-14, midway through the first half. Guard RJ Davis led four Tar Heels in double figures with 20 points as UNC was 10-of-26 (38.5%) from three. Harrison Ingram made five triples as he was a major story in solidifying North Carolina’s offense.
